On June 1st, The Eleventh Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award was held in Beijing. Academician Zhong Nanshan, the director of State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease, has received the Achievement Award of The Eleventh Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award. The Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award is considered the top prize in the engineering field of China. When interviewed during the awarding ceremony, Prof. Zhong said the Award encouraged him to work harder for scientific and technological innovation. So far, there are only 6 winners for the Achievement Award since 1996.

The Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award is the highest prize of the Chinese Academy of Engineering .The Award aims to reward the engineers and scientists with outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of engineering science and technology. The Award is held every two years selecting a dozen of winners for Engineering Award and Youth Award as well as one winner for Achievement Award, in recognition of scientists who have made outstanding achievements and significant contributions to the field of engineering technology and engineering management.
