Two Young Researchers Win Prizes in The 18th World Conference on Lung Cancer

The World Conference on Lung Cancer is the most prestigious international conference on lung cancer research, which gathers leading experts and researchers in the field. The 18th World Conference on Lung Cancer of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) was held from October 15 – 18, 2017, in Yokohama, Japan. Two young researchers from Prof. He Jianxing’s research team, Wenhua Liang and Hengrui Liang, won the International Mentorship Award and Developing Country Award, respectively. It is the only Chinese research team that earned two Travel Awards at the conference.

The International Mentorship Award is for early-career physicians/researchers studying thoracic malignancies. The award covers all expenses, including travel and accommodation,  as well as registration fees for WCLC 2017. The awardees are matched with well-established scientific and clinical mentors from within the hosting WCLC region and visit the mentor’s institution for approximately a week following the WCLC. Thirteen winners are selected for the award worldwide.

The Developing Country Award also covers all expenses for awardees to attend WCLC 2017. A total of 20 places are available for young and outstanding researchers in developing countries.The awardees of the Travel Award should demonstrate a strong academic background with a quality abstract accepted by the conference.
