According to the latest statistics released by ESI in 2017, GMU has made a historical breakthrough by ranking the 995th out of the 4108 listed institutions across the globe. With an improvement of 300 positions since the 2015 rankings were released, GMU enters the top 1000 for the first time. While the university gains recognition across the globe, GMU’s discipline of Clinical Medicine continues to be listed as the top 1% globally.

Based on journal article publication counts and citation data from the Web of Science database, ESI has been recognized as a comprehensive compilation of science performance statistics and science trends data. It is available as a 10-year rolling file that is updated every two months.
