Dispatched by the Red Cross Society of China, a team of Chinese medical experts flew to Baghdad to assist Iraq in fighting against the coronavirus epidemic for 50 days. After the tasks were accomplished, the team returned to Guangzhou safely on a chartered plane arranged by Iraqi authorities on April 26. Among the heroes, Xu Yonghao, a critical care expert, and Chen Huai, director of the radiology department, are both from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University.

In addition to helping treat Iraqi patients and screening suspected cases, Chen and Xu met with Iraqi health officials and other experts to exchange knowledge and experience.

Chen helped local hospitals build laboratories, use CT scanners and other necessary medical equipment to screen suspected patients, and gave training lectures to local medical staff.

Xu held discussions and exchanges with local medical personnel to teach them how to avoid being infected with the coronavirus by their patients.
