On March 31, The Inaugural Meeting of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Obstetrical Critical Care Association was held in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. Due to continued COVID-19 prevention measures, 30 members attended the meeting locally while other member organizations took part remotely through video conferencing. Officials from Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission as well as the leadership from the Third Affiliated Hospital were on site to attend the meeting.

The Association was initiated by Guangzhou Medical University with a joint effort of 64 member organizations, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Macao Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences and Kiang Wu Hospital. The mission of the Association is to pool resources, leverage complementary advantages to improve the treatment of obstetrical critical illness and to increase the success rates of treating severe maternal morbidity.
