According to the database of Essential Science Indicators (ESI) updated in January 2023, Chemistry in GMU entered top 1% in the ESI global ranking.

Up till now, GMU owns ten disciplines in the top 1% of ESI global ranking, including Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology&Toxicology, Molecular Biology & Genetics,Biology&Biochemistry,Immunology,Neuroscience&Behavior Microbiology, Psychiatry / Psychology, and Materials Science, and Chemistry.

According to the ESI comprehensive ranking, GMU is ranked 823 in the world and 73 in mainland China. The international ranking of GMU has risen 12 places compared with previous period ( November 2022). The nine research fields which entered top 1% previously have seen steady improvement. In addition to the Clinical Medicine ranking top 1‰ in the word, another four research disciplines have entered top 5‰ globally.
