On March 7th, a delegation from the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering (INESC, Portugal) and the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) paid a visit to Guangzhou Medical University (GMU). Chairman Prof. TANG Xiaoping, Vice President Prof. HU Bingjie, and Vice President Prof. LI Jianhua greeted the visiting delegates. Representatives from the School of International Education, Graduate School, School of Kingmed Diagnostics, and the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health were also present at the meeting.
Prof. TANG Xiaoping extended a warm welcome to the guests, emphasizing GMU's commitment to fostering cooperation and exchange with INESC and MUST. The three parties shared a common goal: to enhance cross-domain collaboration in predicting and issuing early warnings for global epidemics, thereby improving the collective response to future public health challenges. This collaborative effort holds substantial value for scientific research.
Prof. Arlindo Oliveira, representing INESC, provided an overview of INESC and expressed his aspirations for the visit to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen the existing partnership, and encourage broader and more profound exchanges and collaborations between the three institutions, as well as promoting Sino-Portuguese cooperation in scientific research and education.
The parties reached a consensus on the joint laboratory project, and exchanged views on talent training and mutual visits of faculties and students, with a shared vision of expanding and intensifying their collaborative efforts.
