GMU Delegation Visited France to Deepen Ties
Date: 2023-12-26

In December 2023, a delegation led by Prof. Tang Xiaoping, Chairman of Guangzhou Medical University (GMU), embarked on a mission to foster academic and scientific collaboration with the University of Strasbourg and the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (CNRS), aiming to establish a lasting partnership between the institutions.

The visit commenced with a meeting between the GMU delegation and Professor Michel Deneken, President of the University of Strasbourg. They exchanged views on the streamlining the training mechanism for dual-degree doctoral candidates. Both sides would work closely to deliver the training programs and further strengthen the partnership between the two universities to seek more collaboration opportunities.

Continuing their pursuit of academic synergy, the GMU delegation proceeded to the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology the following day. There, they were joined by Nobel Laureate Prof. Hoffmann and a team of leaders and experts from CNRS. The three parties discussed further cooperation such as signing of a tripartite agreement, the academic activities commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Sino-French Hoffmann Institute (SFHI), the blueprint for SFHI for the next decade, the regular visits of scientific researchers, and the mechanism of joint training.

Prof. Tang Xiaoping articulated a vision for the future, urging all parties to leverage their respective strengths over the next 5-10 years to expand the scope of collaboration and amplify the impact of their joint efforts.

This series of strategic engagements signifies a significant step forward in Sino-French academic collaboration, setting the stage for a robust and enduring partnership that promises to yield substantial benefits for the scientific community and the broader society.
