From May 26-31, Vice President Li Jianhua led a delegation of GMU to the University of Edinburgh and the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom to strengthen ties and explore more collaboration possibilities. The delegation comprised representatives from the Graduate School, the Dean’s Office, and the School of Basic Medical Sciences.

Vice President Li Jianhua Signed the Summer School Placement Agreement with Lisa Boden, Head of Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and Dean of Veterinary Medicine

 

When visiting the University of Edinburgh, our delegation had in-depth exchanges with key faculty members regarding the joint training for postgraduates. The delegation also engaged in comprehensive dialogues on postgraduate teaching and research. Furthermore, the delegation met with leaders from College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, the Roslin Institute, and the Division of Functional Genetics.

 

During the visit, Vice President Li Jianhua and Dean Lisa Boden signed an agreement regarding the summer school placement. Both parties also discussed joint training for students and research collaboration in detail.

 

In the following day, the delegation visited the University of Strathclyde and met with Prof Stephen MacArthur, Associate Principal of the University of Strathclyde and other key university officials and faculty members to discuss topics such as research cooperation, joint undergraduate and graduate education, and faculty training.

 

After the meeting, the delegation visited the laboratories of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and had a discussion with the faculty and students. Vice President Li Jianhua expressed her hope that the two sides would continue to expand the scope of cooperation in the future, further deepen the effectiveness of cooperation, and jointly promote the development of education and scientific research of the two universities.
