On June 26th, Prof. Antoine Petit, Chairman of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), led a delegation to visit Guangzhou Medical University (GMU). They were received by GMU Chairman Professor Tang Xiaoping and Vice Presidents Hu Bingjie, Li Jianhua, and Fu Xiaodong. Representatives from the Sino-French Hoffmann Institute, Graduate School, Research Office, and International Cooperation and Exchange Office also attended the meeting.
Professor Tang warmly welcomed Chairman Petit and his delegation. He highlighted GMU’s commitment to Sino-French collaboration, especially through the Sino-French Hoffmann Institute (SFHI), established in 2013 in partnership with CNRS and the University of Strasbourg. Named after Nobel Laureate Professor Jules Hoffmann, SFHI has made significant contributions to antiviral immunity and innate tumor immunity research, publishing papers in prestigious journals such as Nature.
Chairman Petit expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the growing importance of Sino-French scientific cooperation. He noted that these collaborations not only advance research but also strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations. He looks forward to deepening the partnership with GMU and creating more opportunities for scientific exchange.
In the meeting, Professor Jiao Renjie, Director of the Sino-French Hoffmann Institute, provided an overview of the institute’s achievements and current initiatives. Later, the delegation also toured the Scientific Research Center and the Sino-French Hoffmann Institute.
