The Second Clinical School (SCS)of Guangzhou Medical University was established in 2004, based on the Second Affiliated Hospital of GMU. The School boasts the second clinical department, Medical Imaging Department, Anaesthesiology Department and Rehabilitation Sciences Department, offering programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels,with 11 supervisors for doctoral candidates and 85 supervisors for master degree candidates. The clinical medicine programme at undergraduate level is listed as a national specialty. Internal medicine is a national excellent programme, a national model course for bilingual learning with national teaching team. The Comprehensive Cinical Skills Training Centre is a national-level training base. SCS has carried out collaboration and exchange with Taiwan Chungshan Medical University on rehabilitation sciences and medical imaging.
In the past five years, SCS has received 50 Million funding for national, provincial and municipal research projects and laboratory construction. In 2012, SCS has undertaken 118 research projects at different levels. While it is home to 14 post-doctoral researchers, SCS boasts Neuroscience Laboratory, Cardiovascular Disease Laboratory and Allergy and Clinical Immunology Laboratory.
In September 2013, Neuroscience Institute cooperated with Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Epilepsy Center and signed an agreement on establishing "Harvard - Guangzhou Neurology Medical Institute".
