I. Program Introduction

Guangzhou Medical University is one of the universities accredited by the Ministry of Education of China to recruit Bachelor degree of Clinical Medicine Program (taught in English) of international students, and has been recruiting students since September 2010. This program aims at training international medical elites with solid foundation of medical knowledge, superb clinical skills and good professional qualities according to the international standards for medical education and the Provisional Regulations stipulated by the Ministry of Education on quality control standards for the undergraduate medical education (in English medium) of international students in China. The program also pays attention to some special requirements of certain countries where the majority of the students are from.

The program duration is 6 years which includes one year internship, and is awarded the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in English.

II. Admission Requirements

1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate. For residences of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who immigrated to foreign countries and are applying as international students, the applicant should have foreign nationality and hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for at least 4 years. In addition, more than 2 years of actual residence in a foreign country has been recorded in the last 4 years (ending on April 30, 2024).

2. Applicants should be 18-25 years old with a high school diploma or above.

3. Applicants should be physically and mentally healthy, and meet the medical examination standards for applying for a study visa or residence permit in China.

4. Applicants should be friendly to China, with excellent grades and good conduct, without any record of violation of school rules and regulations, nor any record of public security punishment or criminal record.

5. Applicant’s language proficiency must meet the following requirements: English language proof is not required for native English speakers. Applicants from non-English-speaking countries must reach a score above 6.0 in IELTS (5.0 or above for each item) or 70 in TOEFL (15 or above for each item); or provide other comparable certificates proving English proficiency (70 or above). Applicants from non-English-speaking countries who receive the last degree with the instruction in English are exempt from submitting the English proficiency certificates, but the certificate of English medium issued by the school graduated from shall be provided.

Chinese culture courses: General Introduction to China, Chinese Language etc.

Basic medical courses: Basic Chemistry of Medicine, Medical Organic Chemistry, Higher Mathematics, Physics, Fundamentals of Computer Application, Anatomy, Histology & Embryology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Medical Microbiology, Human Parasitology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Immunology, Medical Genetics etc.

Behavioral science, humanities & social sciences and medical ethics courses: Medical Psychology, Medical Ethnics etc.

Prevention medicine courses: Preventive Medicine, Epidemiology, Medical Statistics etc.

Clinical medicine courses: Diagnostics, Image Diagnostics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Lemology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Stomatology, Dermatology and Venerology, Psychiatry, Anaesthetics, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine etc.

IV. Charging Standard

1. Tuition: RMB 30,000/academic year;

2. Accommodation fee: Panyu campus: RMB 6,000/person/academic year; Yuexiu campus: RMB 4,000/person/academic year

3. Other fees including textbook costs, board expenses, medical expenses, utility bills, drinking water charges, internet charges, medical insurance expenses, visa extension expenses, etc. shall be paid accordingly by the international students.

V. Application Procedures and Dates

Log in Guangzhou Medical University International Student Service System (https://gzhmu.at0086.cn/Student) to complete the online application, and upload the required application materials.

Application Dates: April 1, 2024 — October 20, 2024

VI. Application Materials

1. Scanned copy of valid passport’s information page;

2. Scanned copy of Highest Academic Degree Certificate, scanned copies of transcript of all courses during the highest academic degree education (original one and English-translated one);

3. ID photo (2-inch blue background photo without hats);

4. Scanned copy of Foreigner’s Physical Examination Form completed in Chinese or English;

5. English self-introduction video (3-5 minutes, no more than 50M);

6. Certificate of Language proficiency;

7. Financial Guarantee Letter and scanned copies of its supporting documents completed in Chinese or English;

8. Original Authorization to the Guardian (for the applicants under the age of 18 by October 20, 2024) needs to be notarized with signatures. If not notarized in China, the endorsement of local Chinese Embassy is required;

9. Non-fresh graduates are required to provide a resume.

VII. Review and Admission

The university will review the completeness and authenticity of the applicant’s materials, if necessary, the university will ask the applicant to submit additional materials. The university will accept the students on the basis of merit based on the results and other performance.

1. The pre-admission result is generally announced within one month after the application. Applicants can check the admission result on the system, and applicants must pay the tuition fee in advance within the deadline for confirmation; Otherwise, the pre-admission qualification is deemed to be abandoned.

2. Visa Application for Study in China (JW202) are fully electronic from 2023 onwards, and will be sent to the email address that the applicant has filled in on the application system. Please download it from your computer in time.

3. After receiving the Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202), applicants shall apply for Study Visa in China to the Chinese Embassy (Consulate General) and other visa agencies with the following materials: Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (JW202), the original copy and photocopy of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner and valid passport.

VIII. Admission Date

Students should register in October 2024, and the specific time shall be subject to the date marked on the Admission Notice.
