  • 2022

    Selected into the list of second-round Double First-Class initiative universities.

  • 2021

    Take over Guangzhou Zengcheng People's Hospital, developed into the Fourth affiliated Hospital of GMU.

  • 2020

    All staff of GMU participated in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, and Zhong Nanshan was awarded the "Medal of the Republic".

  • 2015

    Selected into the list of the Double First-Class initiative universities.

  • 2014

    All the undergraduate majors entered the first-batch enrollment in Guangdong Province.

  • 2013

    Renamed Guangzhou Medical University.

  • 2012

    School of International Education was established, and started to enroll international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.

    Take over Medical Clinic of the Asian Games, developed into the Second affiliated Hospital of GMU, Panyu Campus.

  • 2007

    Take over Gangwan Hospital of The Huangpu Harbor Affairs Administration Bureau, developed into the Fifth affiliated Hospital of GMU.

  • 2006

    Take over Guangzhou Second People's Hospital, developed into the Third Affiliated Hospital of GMU in 2013. Take over The Guangzhou Cancer Hospital, developed into the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of GMU.

  • 2005

    Take over Guangzhou Health School, and integrated it into the Nursing College of GMU.

  • 2004

    Take over The Guangzhou Hospital of Yangcheng Railway General Company, developed into the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of GMU in 2013.

    Qualified to award a doctoral-degree.

    Started to enroll postgraduate students.
