A Sino-German concert titled "Soundbridge: Classic Meets Jazz" was held at the university's Panyu Campus on December 21st , attracting nearly 700 faculty and students. University leaders including Party Secretary Zeng Yingru and provincial cultural officials attended the event.

Supported by the German Federal Foreign Office and organized by Dr. Gabriele Minz GmbH, the concert featured a binational ensemble under the artistic direction of Berlin-based jazz pianist Clara Haberkamp and percussionist Hu Shengnan. The ensemble also included Chinese musicians Qiu Yantang on suona and Zhang Qianhao on bamboo flute from Beijing's Central Conservatory of Music, alongside German musicians Bill Petry on trumpet and Christian Müller on double bass.

The program seamlessly blended European classical music, Chinese folk traditions, jazz, and tango, featuring works ranging from Bach's "Prelude in C Minor" to Zhao Yiru's "Dancing in Lychee's Garden." The innovative arrangements by Haberkamp and Zhao showcased creative dialogue between Eastern and Western musical traditions.

This cultural exchange program exemplifies GMU's commitment to international cooperation.
